LIFE Groups

What is a LIFE Group?

At Pitman Road, we believe that God intended for all of us to live our lives in connection with Jesus (our Lord and Savior), with our spiritual family (those who support us and help us grow in our faith), and with others (those who are seeking after God).  

For the first 300 years of Early Christianity, believers met in small groups daily, in homes and public spaces, not in church buildings, to worship, pray, eat together, and grow in their relationships with God and with each other.  LIFE Groups are our way to adopt this approach to community life from the early church.

L.I.F.E. stands for Love, Involvement, Fellowship and Evangelism.

 

What happens in a LIFE Group?

LIFE Groups are small groups that meet weekly between September and May. Groups typically meet in homes or at the church building, for 1½ to 2 hours, on specific days throughout the  week.

LIFE Group meetings include a time of fellowship and a time of discussion.  Some LIFE Groups sing and pray.  Some share meals.  All LIFE Groups engage in practical, Bible-centered discussions.  Although LIFE Group leaders facilitate the discussions, all members have the opportunity to share, so we can grow in Christ together.

Why should I join a LIFE Group?

Because we can’t make it to heaven on our own.  We need strong, meaningful relationships with our brothers and sisters:

• to help us grow in our understanding of how to apply God’s Word in real-life situations; and,
• to support and encourage one another in good times and bad.
