LIFE Groups

What is a LIFE Group?

At Pitman Road, we believe that God intended for all of us to experience our Christian walk in community – sharing our lives, supporting one another, and growing in our faith, together.

For the first 300 years of Early Christianity, believers met in small groups in homes, not in church buildings, to worship, pray, eat together, and grow in their relationships with God and with each other.  LIFE Groups are our way to adopt this approach to community from the early church.

LIFE stands for Love, Involvement, Fellowship and Evangelism

What happens in a LIFE Group?

LIFE Groups are small groups that meet weekly between September and May. Groups typically meet in homes or at the church building, for 1 ½ to 2 hours, on specific days throughout the  week.

LIFE Group meetings include a time of fellowship and a time of discussion.  Some LIFE Groups sing and pray.  Some share meals.  All LIFE Groups engage in practical, bible-centered discussions.  Although LIFE Group leaders facilitate the discussions, all members have the opportunity to share.

Why should I join a LIFE Group?

Because we can’t make it to heaven on our own.  We need strong, meaningful relationships with our brothers and sisters:

  • to help us grow in our understanding of how to apply God’s Word in real-life situations; and,
  • to support and encourage one another in good times and bad.

LIFE is better in community!
