Family Promise of Gloucester County is an affiliate of a nationwide organization whose mission is to help homeless working families achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response.

Their vision is a nation in which every family has a home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future. They harness the resources of over 400 volunteers throughout our community, primarily through churches within the county, and partner with a variety of other nonprofit and social service organizations to assist families in reaching their goals of permanent housing.

The mission of Family Promise of Gloucester County is to provide homeless families an opportunity to achieve stability by providing shelter, food, case management, and hospitality while simultaneously utilizing resources within local congregations and the community. The program provides families with a long term solution to maintain permanent housing.

Here at Pitman Road, we "host" families from Family Promise four or more weeks each year. (Pre-Covid, the families would stay at our building during these weeks. Now, each family stays at a designated transition house.) Each host week, volunteers are needed to shop for food and drop off a prepared dinner to the transition house each night.

We are the hands and feet of Jesus, providing food, shelter, and hospitality for families who are seeking to bridge the gap as they strive to secure permanent housing again.
