Family Promise of Gloucester County is an affiliate of a nationwide organization whose mission is to help homeless working families achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response. Their vision is a nation in which every family has a home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future. They harness the resources of over 400 volunteers throughout our community, primarily through churches within the county, and partner with a variety of other nonprofit and social service organizations to assist families in reaching their goals of permanent housing. The mission of Family Promise of Gloucester County is to provide homeless families an opportunity to achieve stability by providing shelter, food, case management, and hospitality while simultaneously utilizing resources within local congregations and the community. The program provides families with a long term solution to maintain permanent housing.

Here at Pitman Road, we host families from Family Promise in our church building four or more weeks each year. During a "Host Week" we will provide transportation to and from the day center, dinner, and safe and comfortable sleeping accommodations for up to 14 adults and children. Each host week, over 50 volunteers are needed to shop for food, set up, break down, launder bedding, cook, drive a 15 passenger van, and to be evening hosts and overnight hosts. We are the hands and feet of Jesus, providing food, shelter, and hospitality for families who are seeking to bridge the gap as they strive to secure permanent housing again.
